2th Edition of VKII-Best Student Award

Call for participation

The Second VKII-Best Student award is an international contest for undergraduate and graduate Cameroonian students worldwide, which will take place this year during the VKII Symposium on 1st September 2007 in Munich. It offers an opportunity to compete for an award, as they examine innovative topics in engineering and computer science in order to solve everyday problems.

Goals

The goal of the VKII Student Competition consists of:

1. Highlighting and rewarding very high quality work from students in engineering, computer sciences and related fields
2. Encouraging college students to explore engineering and computer science opportunities and improve their individual skills from system level design down to implementation
3. Engaging college teachers and students in their examination of their thesis topics
4. Challenging college students to strengthen their creativity skills
5. Helping students to establish first contacts with professionals and researchers in the related fields

Eligibility

All contributions must be original work done by one student or by a group of students. Each contribution should not exceed six pages using a 10pt font coding.
The contribution should describe either a conceptual work aimed at solving a given problem in engineering or computer science or a practical implementation solving a novel problem. In the second case, sufficient proof (pictures, video or demonstration) must be provided at time of submission. A recommendation of the supervisor must be submitted as well.
Only Bachelor and Master Degree students presenting their bachelor or master dissertation in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering and all related fields may submit their work. For the recent graduates: all submitted work must have been initiated and the bulk of the work must have been performed at university.

The following criteria will be evaluated: presentation, logic, structure & clarity of the argumentation, the pertinence of the conclusion and the utility of the work. Look for example at the contribution of the last year winner.

The winners will be asked to present a summary of their work during the workshop. They will have 15 min time for the exercise broken down by 10 min for the presentation and 5 min for Q&A.

The awards will be handed out at the Gala taking place after the workshop. The winner will also receive a free registration to the VKII-Workshop.

The work must be submitted here or via email addressed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it no later than the 07th of August, 2007. Winner notification will be posted by August 21st, 2007.
