With the increasing number of Cameroonian engineers and computer scientists in Europe and North America, the hope of having an effective technology transfer in the near future is growing. Africa in general and Cameroon in particular are some of the least developed and poorest areas in the world. One of the effective ways to develop the country is to increase its technology capability.
This can be achieved by a transfer of adapted technology to Africa. Technology transfer can be boosted by Cameroonian and other African engineers and computer scientists working in leading companies and universities worldwide.

“How can a mass return of Cameroonian & African graduates be the key for a successful take-off of the black continent?”

The VKII Workshop on Engineering and Computing 2007 will give the opportunity to emigrated African professionals to share their experiences and ideas concerning the technology transfer from the North to the South.
Using concrete examples, lecturers will expose their projects, detailing their chances of success but also mentioning the challenges faced during their realization.
The purpose of the workshop this year is firstly to see how technology can be transferred to Africa efficiently, the goal being to solve existing problems and improve living conditions of the local population. Furthermore the workshop will include a discussion on whether this transfer can be accelerated if more and more highly skilled African emigrants decide to return back home. Anyone interested in this workshop is invited to submit a contribution in form of an abstract.  After the approval of the abstract’s program a detailed contribution would be expected for the symposium’s proceedings. Packets including keynote presentations as well as formal papers will provide baseline knowledge for discussions and possible project proposals.
